Digital Marketing Manager
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Administration
- Serve as representative of VSBMO with distillers, board members, partners and external stakeholders.
- Provide strategic input for the development of an annual marketing plan and accompanying budget.
Digital Strategy & Content Development
- Maintain and update the VirginiaSpirits.org website in collaboration with external web consultants, making recommendations for improvement and long-term upgrades as necessary.
- Track and report digital campaign performance across web, social and other channels using analytics tools; use insights to optimize strategies.
- Oversee budgeting and planning for ongoing website maintenance and enhancements.
- Manage all @VASpirits social media accounts, ensuring innovative, brand-aligned content while actively engaging with followers to build community and brand affinity and encourages consumer and industry engagement.
- Create and maintain a dynamic, social media content calendar.
- Implement a comprehensive paid digital strategy to enhance brand awareness, lead generation and website visitation.
- Deliver digital tools to industry stakeholders that amplify overall distilled spirits industry messaging and goals.
- Implement and optimize search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) strategies to improve website visibility and drive traffic.
- Keep abreast of the latest digital marketing trends, technologies and best practices with particular attention to the adoption of AI and impact on the VSBMO and Virginia’s distilling industry.
Creative Strategy & Brand Stewardship
- Serve as the primary steward of the Virginia Spirits brand, ensuring consistent application of brand standards across all materials.
- Liaise with internal Creative Services team and external vendors to develop creative assets that reflect brand guidelines.
- Lead creative development and execution of special campaigns and initiatives, such as the VA250 Bottle Collaborative, Virginia Cocktail Games and First Landing Cup.
- Create and deliver digital marketing training programming to stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in digital marketing, content strategy or digital creative development showing progressive growth and responsibility.
- Demonstrated results-oriented ability to manage social media channels and develop brand-aligned content.
- Strong writing, editing and project management skills.
- Ability to analyze campaign performance and apply insights using Google Analytics, SEO, social media and other digital analytics tools.
- Proficient with social media scheduling platforms.
- Experience building and managing paid campaigns across Meta and Google platforms.
- Significant experience working with web content management systems and proficiency using Word Press.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, deadlines and stakeholders effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with external partners and clients.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Working knowledge of graphic design concepts and principles
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and/or Canva design platform.
- Experience in beverage, hospitality, tourism or lifestyle branding.
- Understanding of and ability to apply brand development and storytelling principles.
- Experience coordinating with creative agencies or freelancers.
- Comfort with public speaking or representing VSBMO at events.
- Creative mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and develop forward-thinking solutions.
